Surprisingly, getting into college is not the problem for bright, low income students. The ability to afford college through the end of the degree program is a much larger problem. Students that qualify for one or two year grants or that win a scholarship that will pay for only one or two years are in danger of running out of money prior to graduation. Little could be more frustrating than to routinely make the dean’s list but have to leave school due to your inability to pay.
