Your high achieving high school student could soon take a series of board examinations and exit high school as early as their sophomore year. If they are not ready as a sophomore the same opportunity will be available as a junior as well as their senior year.
With the help of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the National Center on Education and the Economy, eight states are piloting a program designed to decrease the high school drop-out rate and eliminate the need for remedial coursework in colleges. With scandals in test cheating on CRCT’s in the Georgia public school system, and schools not preforming up to standards I think that this is a big mistake to cut 2 years out of a students portfolio, if a particular student is preforming above average, taking 1 or 2 college level courses at the community college while still in the 11th and 12th grade would be fine, but to skip those grades completely would be a mistake.
